Book Release Party

I didn’t know how common or exciting it is to throw a children’s book release party, but this was not going to stop me.  I wanted to celebrate something I’ve worked very hard on, and I wanted to create a bit of a jump start into the sales of my new book and song.

I decided to hold the party at Saint Paul’s premier char house and bar, Mancini’s.  I also decided to hire my multi-talented friend, Scottie Miller, to perform at the party. Who better to ask than Scottie who was kind enough to go that extra mile in producing and playing on my original children’s song? I was hoping and praying for 100 people to come by.  I had my doubts, but I kept envisioning …

I pulled out of my driveway on the day of the party.  I drove down the block and decided to return to the house to pick up 2 more boxes of my books (just in case).  It seemed silly, but I did it anyway. I felt well-prepared for the party, but I soon found out that I was not prepared enough. To my great surprise, people started lining up by the numbers. Thank God I hired Scottie because he thoroughly entertained my friends who were in line to the point they didn’t mind waiting to purchase my book and to get my autograph (It still seems really strange to write about “my autograph,” even though I have dreamed about it for years and years — not in a stuck-up way but in a “making-a-positive-difference” way).

Over 300 friends and family members showed up that day to support me.

All I can say is “Wow!”  Thank God for my friends Trudy Groppoli Baltazar, Laurie Duarte Macchiaroli, Jane Trigas and Roger Hanzalik who helped me set up, collect money in order to move the line along quicker, do whatever they thought needed to be done and even helped me pack up. I don’t know what I would have done without them! You’ve probably guessed by now:  The boxes of books which I left in the trunk of my car needed to be brought in. My sons, Kevin and Jason were on it for me! During the party, both of my sons occasionally  came by my table with the biggest smiles on their faces as if to say “Can you believe this, Mom?” This was one of the proudest moments of my life!

The following couple weeks were like something I’ve never experienced before. I was so happy that I didn’t want to fall asleep at night … and I couldn’t wait to wake up the next morning! Thank you to all my friends and family members who made this the most memorable, heart-filled event that I will never forget!

I sold over 500 books … and then everything was put on hold. I made the wise decision to simplify my life and decided to sell the house I had lived in for a quarter of a century. It was a mountain of work in getting the house ready to sell, get ready for open houses, etc. I eventually sold the house, bought a condo and settled in very nicely. Then Covid hit … Enough said …

I believe in this book/song. They are both timeless, so I’m getting ready to rock ‘n roll with the marketing process again. I’d appreciate it if you could continue on with your support and kindness and to share its positive messages. I’m chomping at the bits to write a sequel to this book, but presently, I don’t have the funds for this. Book sales will surely help me to publish book number two.

Many thanks … and please know that I Thank God for You!
Rose
