“All About to Change” is the first song I’ve ever written (co-written with Todd Ernster and Kristy Jackson). I never knew I could write music. When I was going through my divorce, I wrote down my feelings and came up with the hook “It was all about you, but it’s all about … to change.” I finished the lyrics and then approached Todd Ernster to help me with the melody. You wouldn’t believe how hard I have tried to bring this song past the finish line, taking several trips to Nashville. I was given the advice to try to bring in an existing songwriter from Nashville. Long story short, Kristy Jackson loved the song and agreed to come on board.
I decided to make a video in order to bring attention to this song. I invited all my friends out to the bar in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Weather-wise, I picked out a bad night for it because that day was the worst ice storm I’ve ever seen here in Minnesota. I almost cancelled the video-shoot because I didn’t want anybody to get hurt. Miraculously, the weather turned the corner and I reluctantly kept my plans. Take a look at how many friends supported me that night in the midst of an ice storm!!! I’m still amazed!!!
Part II of the video was shot Downtown Minneapolis by the Mary Tyler Moore statute … and Part III was shot in Nashville. Watch for the fun Mary Tyler Moore ending :-).
